Cycling – Obstacle Course

The Cycling Obstacle Course is a series of semi – challenging physical obstacles that you the cyclist must navigate while being timed, It is set up to test your fundamental biking skills, balance, braking, cornering, peddling and agility while having fun.

The objective is for the participant to navigate around a number of objects as quickly as you can while riding a bike. Each time  the rider touches an object on the course or puts their foot down they will have 5 seconds added to their total time.  If you go outside the obstacle boundaries you will be disqualified.

Each rider will have the opportunity to do a practise ride through the course.

The objective is to complete the course in the least amount of time including any penalties that the participant received for touching any objects or putting their foot down while navigating the course.

The course will consist of all or some of the following:

  • Circle
  • Straight Board.
  • Serpentine, (going around a series of cones)
  • Bottle (Bean Bag) Pick up and Release.
  • Mine Field
  • The Limbo
  • Snake ride

Slo-Ride

For this cycling event you need a bicycle (mountain / hybrid or road / touring) a helmet , balance and nerves of steel.

You will be assigned a lane about 4 feet wide. All riders for each category will be asked to go to the starting line which will be at one side of the parking lot.

The tension will start to rise and the riders will start to shake. There will be so much tension in the air that you will be able to cut it with a knife.

When all riders are ready the starter will give the signal for the riders to mount their bikes. The starter will allow the riders 5 seconds to mount their bike and get comfortable. The tension will continue to grow.

When all riders are on their bikes the starter will say “Go” and the cyclists will charge across the parking lot at a snails pace, after all it is the last person to cross the finish line that will be the winner.

Once you are given the “Go” command the riders cannot put their foot down on the ground or go outside their lane or they will be disqualified from the race.

For what seems like forever the contestants will creep across the parking lot on their bikes as slow as possible. As one participant tries to keep their balance another participant will be trying to stay inside their lane.

They will be travelling at a brutally slow pace, at times it will seem like the riders are stopped and then  finally the final participant will cross the finish line or be the last cyclist still on their bike and will the winner.

We will be giving announce the Gold, Sliver and Bronze winners of each category.

The categories will be:

  • Mountain / Hybrid bikes and Road / Touring bikes
  • Over and under 70 years old as of December 31st the year of the Summer Games.
