LADDER GOLF SUMMER GAMES 2023
Game Set-Up
The game is played on a large open level grassed area (10ft X 40ft). The ladder is placed crossways in the centre so that it is 20 ft. from each end of the field foul line. Install foul line markers (orange pool noodles) at both ends of field of play.
Rules of the Game
Object of the Game: To “out-toss” your opponents by wrapping your bolos around rungs of the ladder. The top rung is worth 5 points, the middle rung is worth 3 points and the bottom rung is worth 1 point.
Game Play: Play is between 2 teams of 2 players each. One member from each team plays from behind each foul line. Each player at one end will throw 3 bolos alternately – then the score will be recorded for that end. Then the other players from each team will play from behind the other foul line, and their score will be tallied.
The first team to reach 21 points wins the game and the first team to win 2 games will be declared the winner of the match.
For the first end, use a coin toss to determine which team throws first. The other team then chooses the end. For the following ends, the team scoring the highest points in the previous end is the first to toss in the next end.
Each round consists of one person from each team alternately tossing a bolo until all three have been tossed. Bolos may be tossed any way the player chooses, as long as they are tossed individually.
Players must not step across the foul line during a throw, or the results of that throw will be disallowed. Bolos already on the ladder that were affected by the errant throw will be restored to their positions occupied before that throw.
Scoring: Points accumulate with each bolo landing and remaining on a rung. Bolos may wrap around another bolo with both bolos scoring. If a bolo wraps around two rungs, it scores points only from the higher rung. Upon completion of an end and opposing bolos are both on a rung, then each team scores for that rung.
No Score: * Bolos that miss the ladder or bounce off the ground to wrap around a rung do not count in scoring and must be immediately removed. A bolo that is wrapped around the screw on the outside of a rung or vertical pole does not score points and must be immediately removed.
To Win: The first Team to reach 21 is the winner of that game and you play the best 2 out of 3 games for the Winner. The winning team must win by 2 points, if the score at the end of a game is 21-20 or 23-23(tie) you must play another end to determine the winner. The winning team has to win by two points. Each team has to throw all 6 bolos to determine the final score. If there is still no two point spread, the teams have to continue playing a complete game until a winner is declared.
The teams have to finish their end. The winning team of the previous game throws first and the team has a choice of end. The winning team moves to the next round in the competition. Having fun, laughing with and getting to know all competitors is allowed and encouraged.
We don’t need to keep a record of the scores of each team.
